Waste is a vestige of the 20th century mentality. These nesting tables are cut from a single block of marble to keep wastage to a minimum. Designed for an exhibition in 2010, and later put into production by Milan based gallery L'eclettico.
A small nut opener made using investment cast steel, designed after watching an Italian friend open a walnut with a knife , a technique I had never seen before. In Italy people tend to crumble dried whole chilis into their pasta sauce. However careful I was, I would always get burned by the residual chili on my fingertips. With this clear problem in mind, I set about developing a solution. Piccantino is the second project I designed for Alessi, 2010.
